Visa Free Travel Coming to Southeast Asia
Traveling around Southeast Asia (specifically in ASEAN member states) is about to get cheaper and easier. College spring breakers, gap year youngins, and hardcore backpackers rejoice!
In order to promote tourism (specifically from China), ASEAN countries want to promote the idea of Southeast Asia as a destination to be explored, instead of several different countries to be visited one-by-one. Or, they just want to pool their marketing dollars and buy advertising in bulk (specifically).
Whatever the real reason, this will definitely make things easier for travelers. The combined ASEAN visa is expected to be rolled out first in Thailand and Cambodia in late 2017, early 2018, before expanding to the other ASEAN member states.
