Hani Rice Terraces

Near the border with Vietnam, the Hani Rice Terraces trace their roots back over 1,000 years, making them far older than the terraces in the neighboring Guangxi Province.

The terraces were built by the Hani people, an ethnic minority of the Yunnan Province, who still tend to the fields today.

Many viewing points of the terraces have been set up for tourists. There are also photo opportunities with locals, though a small fee must be negotiated.
