Yuyuan Gardens

Believed to be the product of a Ming Dynasty government worker as a pleasing and peaceful escape for his parents, the garden occupies an area of about five acres in the center of Old Town Shanghai.

The highlights of the 400 year old Yuyuan Gardens are the classical Chinese architecture, the beautiful wood and stone carvings, and its namsake bazaar where you can get fun keepsakes and gifts.

For the best Yuyuan experience, visit during the spring flower bloom and on a weekday. The weekends are incredibly crowded at Yuyuan all year round.
