Cienfuegos is a sleepy little town on Bahía de Cienfuegos, a bay on Cuba’s south coast. A former french port, Cienfuegos contains many examples of beautiful colonial architecture from the old stately mansions built with sugar planation fortunes on La Punta to Teatro Tomás Terry in the main square.

Cienfuegos' location makes it a nice home base for day trip excursions to the Bay of Pigs or Gran Parque Natural Montemar, since its a much closer drive than Havana or Trinidad, but still offers nice accommodations and a relaxing atmosphere.
